Learning to cook in lockdown

Hi Bloggers,

How is everyone's lockdown going? Mine is okay, I have been calling my family and talking to them. Also I have been playing with my friend in Minecraft. While we are in lockdown my mum has been teaching me how to cook. I used to help my mum when I was a little kid. So I do know a little bit about cooking. Before we did renovation to our house, we had a wall between the kitchen and lounge. I used to sneak into the kitchen and wash the dishes. I was too small so I used a small stool to wash the dishes.

So far I have helped my mum so many times this year. But there will be more. So today my mum and I made chicken curry, dhal and rice. I would have to say our food was super yummy. I am sure you would want to make this as well. So I will write down the ingredients and how to make it down below.

Chicken Curry Ingredients:
  • Oil
  • Chicken
  • Crushed Ginger and Garlic
  • Half Onion
  • Chilli - Green
  • Turmeric
  • Masala
  • Diced Tomato
  • Coriander
  • Salt
How to make Chicken Curry:
  1. Make sure you turn your stove on. Put three tablespoon of oil in the pot.
  2. Once the oil is hot put your chopped onion in the pot. Now mix until it's golden-brown.
  3. After it's golden-brown add all the crushed garlic and ginger. Keep mixing.
  4. Add one teaspoon of turmeric and masala and then mix.
  5. Now add your chicken and keep mixing.
  6. Put 1 and a half teaspoon of salt and keep mixing.
  7. Next put some tomato. Make sure to not put all of it, just half.
  8. Cook on slow heat until the chicken is cooked. If you want you can put a little bit of water.
Dhal Ingredients:
  • Yellow Peas
  • Red Split Peas
  • Salt
  • Turmeric
  • Crushed Garlic
  • Half Onion
  • Chilli - Green
  • Ghee
How to make Dhal:
  1. Wash the yellow peas and red split peas.
  2.  Now get a pot and put water in it.
  3. Add your yellow peas and red split peas in the pot.
  4. Get a another small pot and put two tablespoon of ghee.
  5. Now add three teaspoon of salt.
  6. Put two crushed garlic. One fresh green chilli.
  7. Put one teaspoon of turmeric in. Add these in the the pot full of yellow peas and red split peas.
  8. Now let it boil until the dhal is soft.
  9. Once the dhal is boiled get another frying pan and put ghee in it, then put half onion and four crushed garlic. When it turns golden brown then mix it into your dhal.
That is the end of my blog post. I hope you had a great day and enjoy your chicken curry and dhal. Remember to be safe and kind, do not fight over toilet paper, Please wash your hands, Wear a mask if you need to, Wear gloves if you need to, please do not get bored at home, do something, Unite against Covid-19, Stay home and do not panic buy because we have got supermarkets open.

Healthy Eating Poster

 Hi Bloggers,

Yesterday a nice lady from Heart Foundation came to our school. Her name is Isabel. So she came and we did a lesson about everyday foods and sometimes foods. We also did a small activity. We put different types of food under the four food groups and the sometimes foods. The four food groups are Fruits and Vegetables, Proteins (Meat, Fish, Poultry, etc), Grain foods, Milk and milk products. Here is my poster I made about Healthy Eating:

Thanks for looking at my blog. Have an awesome day!

Disco + Food + Secret Santa + Dancing = So Much Fun

Buenos Dias,

Friday the 4th of December was really fun. I want to tell you all about it. We also had mufti for three days in a row because Emrico, Jaymalyn and Faisa chose mufti for getting 150 green tickets. Congratulations to them. Ok now back to the story:

Early in the morning when school was open and I was coming to school in my dad's car then I saw my friend: Daphnee. I waved at her and she saw me. My mum dropped me to my class and I put my belongings away, took my lunchbox and Chromebook (Inside the case) inside. I saw that Mrs Odean and some other kids were changing the table so we can put the food and Secret Santa presents on one table. Pranav brought Lollies. Sharmake brought popcorn. Keti brought sushi. Faisa brought the muffins. Mehdi brought roti wraps. Mrs Odean had brought Lollies, Peaches, Nectarine and two christmas trees (For the Secret Santa).

What happened around 12:50:

The bell had rung and we started to pack up and pull the blinds down. We put music on and just dance. We were dancing, spinning around, following the leader, siting down and talking. We also started to sing some of the songs. I got dizzy (hehe) so I sat down on the chair for a little while. I did some of the just dances that we put on. I was singing some of the songs JUST with my lips.

Mrs Odean (She was here because our class needs to have an adult around) was cutting the nectarines and the peaches in half. She opened everything else but not the lollies. When the bell rang for lunch eating at 1:25 then we sat down, ate some lunch. I had half a nectarine (It was delicious), some strawberries and a few crackers (The biscuit was lemon flavour and there was chocolate on it).

I sat at a table and ate, then when I was finished I got my lunch box and had my sandwich which was ham sandwich (My favourite). I put everything away and in my bag. At 1:40 (When the bell rang to stop eating) we sat down so Mrs Odean could hand out the..... SECRET SANTA PRESENTS!! My one was in a big bag. But my present was small. When Mrs Odean was finished then she said that we could open our presents. My one was small but I still appreciated it and it was beautiful, I loved it. It was a charm bracelet. The person who got it for me was Pranav. My friend Daphnee got Jenga, Mahrosh got a necklace that says 'Love', Aarna got a bunny, Emrico got warheads sour pack and Ahmed got warheads sour pack too.

My Secret Santa was Troy, I got him a ping pong set. He was very happy because he lost his old one. I am very glad of everything that happened on Friday. It was very fun, I was having a happy and a very fun day.

So that was how my day was on a Friday. Keep looking at my blog for more story and things that happen. Also, keep a look out for my Christmas poster. Ok Bye.
