SLJ - Week 1 Activity 5

 Hi Bloggers,

Sorry for not posting yesterday's SLJ task. (SLJ means Summer Learning Journey) In yesterday's activity I had to make a tree with triangles. Then I had to colour it in and after for the Step It Up task, I have make another one but instead of colour it will be numbered. So by that I mean that the paper will have a tree on it with the geometric leaves but it will not be coloured. It will have numbers and there will be a list of colours and its numbers. If you still don't understand it then you may look at the pictures. I recommend everyone to try this activity. I would say the purpose of this activity is for you to be very concentrated and very steady. I won't make you wait so here is the link to the video showing how to do it. Also here are the pictures:

Now that you have seen it and you understand then you can try it out. Have an awesome day! Keep an eye out for my next post. Remember to be safe and kind, do not fight over toilet paper, Please wash your hands, Wear a mask if you need to, Wear gloves if you need to, please do not get bored at home, do something, Unite against Covid-19, Stay home and do not panic buy because we have got supermarkets open.

I couldn't do it because it was raining and there were no flowers. But I promise that when I can then I will add it to this post. I didn't really know how to make it like a real mandala but I did get an idea of it when I watched the video made by Amie at Manaiakalani. I will show you what I made now.

Here is my work:

I didn't really know how to make the light a bit different so it would look realistic. Have an awesome day!

 Hi Bloggers,

Just right now I finished doing the first activity from SLJ. (SLJ is the Summer learning Journey) For this activity I had to watch a video made by the one and only Nanogirl! She is an amazing, talented scientist and she also has a sense of humour. In the video I had to make a hoop, a ring glider and a paper plane. I will add the link to this post if you want to try make them. They are very easy and you have to use a ruler, scissors, pencil and three pieces of paper. The purpose of this was to follow the instructions carefully instead of mucking around. I will show you some pictures of my crafts.

Visual and Cultural Crossword Art

 Hi Bloggers,

Today I was doing two types of crosswords. It was a visual crossword of Arts and Culture. The other crossword was where you choose what you want to do. I chose art so my one will be based on art. I will add both the links in the end of this post. I was doing the visual crossword for a while but I only got to level 8 Architecture. I only just started on the cultural crossword. I think that there are lots of levels in both of them.. When you are doing the visual crossword then you drag the picture and drop it on the crossword column. The crosswords columns are named so if you put your mouse over it then you can see what it is called. I will show you the picture of what it looks like now. Cultural crossword is where you are just doing a normal crossword but it's online.

Here is the picture of the cultural crossword when it is started:

Here is the picture of the visual crossword when it is done

Here is the link to the cultural crossword. Here is the link to the visual crossword. That's the end of my post for today. Have a good day.

Summer Learning Journey Teaser

Hi Bloggers,

The Summer Learning Journey starts on the 13th December but this activity is just to try it out. I just finished the teaser activity for Summer Learning Journey. The teaser activity is where I have to pick a picture to colour. There were lots of pictures to colour but I picked one with a rocket launching. These pictures were from Art Coloring Book and they are all apart of the NASA edition ones. I will show you what the picture looked like before and then the one I coloured in.

Here is the picture of what it looked like before:

Here is the picture of what it looked like after I coloured it:

Now if you think this is the end of the blog post then you are wrong because I am gonna add the Step It Up activity now.

Here is my Step It Up activity:

Learning to cook in lockdown

Hi Bloggers,

How is everyone's lockdown going? Mine is okay, I have been calling my family and talking to them. Also I have been playing with my friend in Minecraft. While we are in lockdown my mum has been teaching me how to cook. I used to help my mum when I was a little kid. So I do know a little bit about cooking. Before we did renovation to our house, we had a wall between the kitchen and lounge. I used to sneak into the kitchen and wash the dishes. I was too small so I used a small stool to wash the dishes.

So far I have helped my mum so many times this year. But there will be more. So today my mum and I made chicken curry, dhal and rice. I would have to say our food was super yummy. I am sure you would want to make this as well. So I will write down the ingredients and how to make it down below.

Chicken Curry Ingredients:
  • Oil
  • Chicken
  • Crushed Ginger and Garlic
  • Half Onion
  • Chilli - Green
  • Turmeric
  • Masala
  • Diced Tomato
  • Coriander
  • Salt
How to make Chicken Curry:
  1. Make sure you turn your stove on. Put three tablespoon of oil in the pot.
  2. Once the oil is hot put your chopped onion in the pot. Now mix until it's golden-brown.
  3. After it's golden-brown add all the crushed garlic and ginger. Keep mixing.
  4. Add one teaspoon of turmeric and masala and then mix.
  5. Now add your chicken and keep mixing.
  6. Put 1 and a half teaspoon of salt and keep mixing.
  7. Next put some tomato. Make sure to not put all of it, just half.
  8. Cook on slow heat until the chicken is cooked. If you want you can put a little bit of water.
Dhal Ingredients:
  • Yellow Peas
  • Red Split Peas
  • Salt
  • Turmeric
  • Crushed Garlic
  • Half Onion
  • Chilli - Green
  • Ghee
How to make Dhal:
  1. Wash the yellow peas and red split peas.
  2.  Now get a pot and put water in it.
  3. Add your yellow peas and red split peas in the pot.
  4. Get a another small pot and put two tablespoon of ghee.
  5. Now add three teaspoon of salt.
  6. Put two crushed garlic. One fresh green chilli.
  7. Put one teaspoon of turmeric in. Add these in the the pot full of yellow peas and red split peas.
  8. Now let it boil until the dhal is soft.
  9. Once the dhal is boiled get another frying pan and put ghee in it, then put half onion and four crushed garlic. When it turns golden brown then mix it into your dhal.
That is the end of my blog post. I hope you had a great day and enjoy your chicken curry and dhal. Remember to be safe and kind, do not fight over toilet paper, Please wash your hands, Wear a mask if you need to, Wear gloves if you need to, please do not get bored at home, do something, Unite against Covid-19, Stay home and do not panic buy because we have got supermarkets open.

My Favourite Memory In Lockdown

 HI Bloggers,

Today I will write about my favourite memory in lockdown. My favourite memory would be the time when I had got my night light. I saw this night light and it looked really amazing. There were different designs and it was hard to choose which one, but then I knew. I chose one which I loved the most. My one was two unicorns together with two hearts in between. I also chose a 16 colour remote with some different modes too. My dad had bought it for me and it took ages to get to New Zealand. But when it finally got to New Zealand I was really excited.

I started to think that it would't come because it took so long. But one day when I was getting ready for my online class, my brother told me that there is something in the mailbox. That's when I knew it was my night light. My brother had brought it inside. We started to open it and then build it which was easy. It had a base and then it had the 3D unicorn. The light came out of the base and then onto the plastic which had the unicorn design on. My brother had also got his own tiny parcel and it was black dye. On that same day at night I turned my night light on to see how it looks and it looks fascinating and bright.

I place my night light on a small table and sometimes at night I place it in front of the T.V. If I want I could use some batteries or a USB. I would want to have it on at night and I will use the batteries not USB because I don't have any power point in my bedroom.

I don't have a picture right now but once I do have one then I will put it on this blog post. Thanks for looking at my blog. Keep an eye out for the pictures. Remember to be safe and kind, do not fight over toilet paper, don't get the Covid-19, Please wash your hands, Wear a mask if you need to, Wear gloves if you need to, please do not get bored at home, do something.

Can you guess my metaphor?

 Hi Bloggers,

Today I was making a metaphor, I was drawing not just writing a metaphor down. So this one is a bit like the simile one I did the other day. I will add my metaphor in and you must try and guess it. Then comment down below to see if your answer was correct. You can not cheat by looking at other peoples comments. I will also add a list of metaphors. I don't know if my metaphor will be easy, for me it did look a bit easy. But you can also write in your comment if it was easy or not. So now I will show you my metaphor:

This is my metaphor. Also I hope that you can guess it.
Here is a list of metaphors:

The wolf howled like the wind.
You are my sunshine.
She has a heart of gold.
My nephew is a cuddly baby bear.
You are the apple of my eye.
Life is a game.
The sun is a creature of habit.
She's a snake in the grass.
He's a couch potato.
Time is money.
Julia is a chicken.

Thanks for looking at my blog.

Can you guess my simile?

 Hi Bloggers,

I had made a simile using google drawing. So what I did was I went on google drawing and tried to draw my simile. Mostly you have to draw the two things you are comparing. Once you see my simile try your best to work it out. There will only be two pictures but I know that you will be able to figure it out. Here is my simile:

Make sure you comment down below with a simile that you think is the one I made. Don't cheat by looking at the comments. Thanks for looking at my blog. Remember to be safe and kind, do not fight over toilet paper, don't get the Covid-19, Please wash your hands, Wear a mask if you need to, Wear gloves if you need to, please do not get bored at home, do something.

Bar Graph

 Hi Bloggers,

My class and I had a task where we need to make a bar graph and then ask people what they like from the labels. It was pretty easy because I just made the bar graph and then asked my family which one they liked. My teacher Miss Leuii had told us to use this site and add the Title, How many people you have asked, How many people like what from the labels, Labels and what the category is. Now I will show you what my bar graph looked like:

Thanks for looking at my blog. I hope you have a great day.

Abstract Art

Hi Bloggers,

While we are in lockdown, I have been making Abstract Art. Abstract Art looks amazing and if you want to make it I will write it in this post. There is only four things you need and they are: Masking tape, pastels or crayon, any size paper and scissors. I will show you some pictures of my art. Then after that there will be the steps.

Here are some pictures:

Here are the steps to make Abstract Art:

  1. Get a piece of paper and any size will do.
  2. Tape the four corners with masking tape. Cut the tape with the scissors when you need to.
  3. Make different shapes using masking tape.
  4. Then with your pastels/crayons you use two different colours to make it look nice.
  5. Once you are done adding the colours you can press hard with a tissue paper to make it smooth and even better.
  6. Now carefully take the masking tape off. Now you may display it somewhere you like.
Now I will type in the colours that look good together. There are a lot of amazing colours that go good with each other so I will make a list below.
  • Purple and Blue
  • Yellow and Red
  • Yellow and Pink
  • Pink and Blue
  • Yellow and Green
  • Pink and Orange
  • Orange and Blue
  • Red and Green
  • Orange and Black
  • Pink and Green
  • Green and Blue
  • Pink and Turqouise
  • Navy and Teal
  • Deep Purple and Blue
  • Blue and Grey
  • Any colour with white
  • Dark Green and Turqouise
  • Grey and Pink
Ok now that is the end of my post. Keep an eye out to more of my blog post. Remember to be safe and kind, do not fight over toilet paper, don't get the Covid-19, Please wash your hands, Wear a mask if you need to, Wear gloves if you need to, please do not get bored at home, do something.

Maori Language Week

 Tena Koutou Bloggers,

As you might have heard it is Maori Language week. In my classes today my teacher told us that we have to do something at 12pm today. It has to be some for Maori Language Week. I thought that I could do a Maori design like how I did in the Summer Learning Journey. It will be a little bit different because I won't colour it in. I might make another one that is different. But if you want to see my blog from the SLJ, the link will be here. So at 12 I will be making Maori designs and once I am finish I will add it to this post. Keep an eye out for my design.

My Maori design soon to come here:

My Digital Portrait!

 Hi Bloggers,

This is the second task I was telling you about in my last post. If you haven't seen my last post then you should look at it. It is called My Chimpanzee! So on Thursday last week we had a special guest named Phil (Cybersmart Teacher). So as you know he gave us a task to make a chimpanzee next to his chimpanzee. After that task he gave us another task and we had to make a digital portrait. We only have to make half of our face and then post it on our blog. So here is my digital portrait:

By the way the grey on my face was the shadow.

Thanks for looking at my blog. Hope you have an awesome day!

My Chimpanzee!

 Hi Bloggers,

Last week on Thursday we had a special guest in our online class. Our teacher didn't say anything about the special guest. She only said that the special guest is someone we knew. So on Thursday most of us were there in our meet. The special guest was Phil (Cybersmart Teacher). So he was the one joining us and he did most of the talking. :D The first thing he told us to do was to make a chimpanzee. I got shocked but then after I wasn't. He shared a Google Drawing with us and we made a copy of it. He already made a chimpanzee on it. The only thing we had to do was to make the chimpanzee. We had a couple of minutes to make it and if you wanted you could share it with Phil and Mrs Odean. We had a task after that but I will post that on a different post. So I am sure you might be excited to see my chimpanzee.

Here is my chimpanzee:

But you don't know which chimpanzee is mine do you? So here is a challenge, If you think you know which chimpanzee is mine or Phil's then comment down below. I will reply back to tell you if it's right or wrong.

Thanks for looking at my blog. I hope you have an awesome day! Also,

I am Google Meet Ready

 HI Bloggers,

I had finished a task which was for cybersmart. The task was a cybersmart challenge. You might have heard about Jeremy who made this challenge. I had to look at a google drawing with images saying what they are. That was useful for me but I already knew them all. The google drawing was called google meet etiquette. So I won't talk anymore about my task. I will let you see it.

Here is my task:

Thanks for looking at my blog. I hope you liked it. Have an awesome day!

My Comic Strip

 Hi Bloggers,

Today my class and I went in our meet. We were shown to make a comic strip on Google Drawing. In that strip you are supposed to make it to be a time when you faced a challenge. So we were only supposed to use 4 boxes to make it in. My challenge was when my friend told me to go down the pole. I was scared but I did it. I won't tell you much more but I will show you my comic strip now.

Here it is:

Thanks for looking at my blog. Have an awesome day! Stay home and stay safe.

The Amazing Monarch show

Fakalaofa Lahi Atu Bloggers,

I made a story about the Monarch show we had and I won't tell you much about it. That is because I have written most of it in the story. My favourite part was when Leah's grandma gave her a little thing and when Leah pushed some buttons she heard about a person and that person came. There was a lady in a purple dress and she was walking near the kids. When she came next to me and my friends we touched her dress.  Here is my story:

On Tuesday my school and I had a show and not just any show. It was an amazing show about Monarch butterflies in our school hall. They also did it at the right time and day because we were entertained before going home. There were two actors and they kept on changing clothes because they had different characters in the show. The names of the actors were Leah and her Grandma. They had arranged their props before we had arrived. Th`ere were some boxes painted pink and green on the other side. Leah and her grandma had put a beautiful Monarch butterfly background so that their clothes were not seen. They played some music from behind it but there was only a little bit of music.

They had begun as soon as we had arrived. Leah was making a speech for school about butterflies. She asked her grandma for help and she gave her a poster about what you should have in your speech. Leah’s grandma had a butterfly home where she goes to do some butterfly tagging. She went off to go butterfly tagging. Leah was going to come after she did her speech because her grandma had told her to look out for a strange man.

Leah did say she would join her but she forgot and kept on with her speech. She got help from a caterpillar named Carlo. Carlo was saying that he had heaps of plants and was full. So he pooped and vomited on Leah. Leah had realised about the machine her grandma gave her before she went as well.
Leah was pushing some buttons and that was when she heard about some people. There was one woman who came and said that in the olden days, girls couldn’t come to school. She then made the girls in our school stand up. The woman then came walking in between the places the kids weren’t sitting. Then she left and Leah went on with her speech.

Her grandma was coming home when Mrs Collingwood stopped her and said that she will make a motorway in the middle of her butterfly home. Her grandma was trying to stop her but instead Mrs Collingwood tied her up. Leah’s grandma tried not to let Mrs Collingwood break the butterfly home. But Mrs Collingwood told her to meet her at the court, so the judge can decide to keep the home or break it down. Mrs Collingwood nicknamed her grandma as Mrs Grandma scientist.

Leah had met her Grandma but she was telling her that she finished her script. Mrs Grandma scientist told Leah that Mrs Collingwood will meet them at the court. Mrs Grandma scientist told Leah everything that had happened. Then Mrs Grandma scientist went to the court with Leah. Mrs Grandma scientist wasn’t able to come but Leah was there and the judge too. So Leah told the judge about what Mrs Collingwood was going to do. After that the judge decided that the butterfly house will stay there forever.

Here are some pictures:

I hope you liked my story. Please comment down below. Have an awesome day.

The Silent Movie

 Kia Orana Bloggers,

Today I watch a trailer about a silent movie named The Gold Rush. It was an activity we had to do. I think that I don't like silent movies because I couldn't really tell of what they were doing in the trailer. I didn't enjoy it and I didn't because I can't tell what they do. If someone said to me if I like silent movies or normal movies. I would say normal movies because then I can understand it.
I did like the Lion's cage movie. All the things they were doing in it was cool. I liked it. I could understand it a little bit not that much.

If you want to see the trailer here is the link: The Gold Rush The Lion's Cage

I hope you have an awesome day and 2021.

It will help me because then I can make more animals out of shapes.

Bike Riding - Without Training Wheels!

Hi Bloggers,

On Tuesday and Wednesday we had some training. The training was for people who don't know how to ride a bike and people who do know how to ride a bike. I was one of them! On this day we had our session at 9 o'clock in the morning. There were a lot of students in our class who did know how to ride a bike. So they went with coach Loney and did some games. On Tuesday we had coach Loney and coach Jason. The rest of the students were the people who don't know how to ride a bike without training wheels. I didn't know how to ride a bike without training wheels so I went with coach Jason.

Before we went on the bikes coach Loney made sure we all had helmets and that they were on properly. But we couldn't get on our bikes just yet! We needed to know the three rules. The rules are no name calling, respect the bike and others on the bike, and have fun. Then we went to a bike and how to check your bike. The rules started with the first four letters of the alphabet. The first one was A and it was air so we checked the air the wheels. B was brakes, we had to check our brakes by pushing them forwards and backwards while pushing the brakes. C was the chain and we moved our pedals so we could see if they work. Last one was D and it was directions. We put our legs on sides of the front wheel and moved it around.

To be honest with you I was really nervous because I thought I would fall. The first things coach Jason told us to do was to try gliding. By gliding he meant as if your legs are paddling for you. You have to do that fast three times and then you stop gliding and just lead your bike around. The second thing we did was to try and pedal after gliding. I started to get the hang of it. Coach Jason said that we can go on the grass if we are confident. My friend Sascha and I went on the grass but it was hard on the grass than on the concrete. After that we were finished for our first lesson.

Day 2 of Bike Riding

It was a rainy day but by the time we needed to go outside it wasn't raining. On this day our session was at 11:25 am. Coach Jason wasn't there that day, so we had a new coach. His name was coach Nigel. We greeted our coaches and got started. As usual coach Loney made sure we had helmets on and that the helmets were on properly. Then we got the same bike and went to our groups. What I mean is that the people who don't know will go with Nigel and the rest with coach Loney.

We did the same thing with coach Nigel as what we did with coach Jason. Push on the concrete three times and then let go. This time some of us had to share a bike. So I shared with Sascha. Our coach said to us to try and just pedal instead of gliding. For Sascha and I, it was really easy. Coach Nigel gave Sascha and I some challenges. He first told us to stand up but it was hard. He then told us to high five him which was easy. After that we did some more turns on the bike.

Then we were at the end of our session. We didn't have anymore sessions because it was our last week at school. Coach Loney said to the learners to come forward. We went forward and then she told the rest of us that these kids learnt how to ride a bike in two days. The whole class applauded the learners. She told all of us to have a great holiday. Then we left, but we didn't leave with thanking our coaches. Once we thanked them as a class we went back to our normal class.

The Wonder Project - Final Test Flights

 Hi Bloggers,

Today we did our final test flights. When the morning tea bell rang my class quickly fixed our rockets. Then we went to room 8 and we started giving gifts to Colm. Colm had his last lesson with us today so we made him a card. Room 8 made a video for him. The video had kids saying thank you and how awesome it was for him to teach us. Neha from room 8 said a little speech on behalf of the senior school. (Year 4, 5 and 6 people) Once we went through some of the things that we needed to know.

Room 6 then went to Keith Hay Park followed by room 9 and 8. Team Wonder went first and we had decided to put 200ml of water and 50psi. All of the senior classes were gonna do a competition of which rocket can go the furthest. My group one didn't go that far. It only went 25 metres far. In our class the furthest one was 37.6 metres. I don't really know which one went the furthest.

Subway for lunch = We are so lucky

 Kia Ora,

Today we were so lucky to have Subway for lunch. We did a survey about our neighbourhood. The survey asked questions like: If you wish that you wanted something in your neighbourhood, what is it? There were lots more questions then that though. I said that I would wish to have an amusement park. Once we did our surveys we submitted it. Then a couple of days later we got to know that we won Subway for the whole class because we did that survey. In the morning Mrs Odean told us that we will get our Subway today. We got super excited about that.

The Subway was a combo with a water bottle, napkins, cookie and of course the main meal the Subway. We were all told to eat our main meals first and then the cookie. We had gotten three boxes of different types of Subway. They had different types because some people have allergies. There are some acknowledgements that my class and I want to make as well.

A special thanks to Kāinga Ora for the survey and the Subway. Another thanks to Piritahi.
